Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center The mission of the Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center is to support the Nature Center's mission to preserve and protect the Rio Grande Bosque, to educate the public about Rio Grande ecosystems, and to foster positive human interactions with those systems. The Friends organization provides both financial and volunteer assistance to the Park to achieve the mission. The Friends provided 10,550 volunteer hours to assist in educational programs including approximately 200 guided classes for over 4,000 groups of students. Financial support for the Park activities include revenue from Friends memberships, donations and Nature Shop income. Nature Center visitors total over 140,000 per year
