ABATE OF NEBRASKA INC ABATE of Nebraska ABATE stands for: A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments or American Bikers Aiming Toward Education ~ ABATE of NE is the only cohesive state organization representing YOU as a motorcycle rider. We are riders from all walks of life throughout the state and membership is open to anyone who is interested in furthering the cause of fair treatment for motorcycle riders. Through an active and involved membership, we can impact the manner in which legislation is made or deterred as it affects motorcycle riders in Nebraska. The purposes of ABATE are to preserve freedom of the road, to bring motorcyclists together in a united organization, to promote fair legislation, rider education, safety and to provide a network for communication on issues affecting motorcyclists. ABATE, in it's simplest terms, lobbies to advocate the well-being of all motorcycle riders through promoting safe riding habits, rider training, as well as addressing such issues as motorcycle awareness by the general public, discriminatory insurance practices toward motorcycle riders, safe road conditions, reduced tolls, space-conscious parking, age limits on passsengers, etc. Nebraska becomes 33rd state to repeal mandatory helmet law! the law took effect Jan. 1, 2024. You can choose to not wear a helmet if you wear eye protection, take a safety course and are over 21! As of 4/2/24 if you have a class M endorsement prior to May 1, 2024, you may take the basic E course (link below) to satisfy the course requirements.
