Inquilinos Unidos Fighting for Safe, Decent, and Affordable Housing in Los Angeles Learn More We help tenants fight for safe, decent, and affordable housing.Inquilinos Unidos (United Tenants) empowers low-income Los Angeles tenants through community organizing, education and advocacy.Since our inception, we’ve had a long and distinguished history of successfully organizing tenants to advocate for their own improved housing conditions. For more than 30 years, IU has focused its tenant advocacy work in the low income, primarily Spanish-speaking, immigrant communities of Pico-Union, Westlake/MacArthur Park, Mid-Wilshire and Koreatown, Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles, Echo Park and Hollywood. Our outreach has also extended to the San Fernando Valley and South Central Los Angeles, and calls for assistance regularly come from adjoining counties.Over the years we’ve worked with thousands of low-income tenants. We use peaceful-but-determined group action to address issues like slum conditions, affordable housing, related health and other issues. We also work on legislative efforts, tenant rights training and strategy planning, and class action or taxpayer lawsuits to address the most egregious housing violations. MISSION VISION Inquilinos Unidos is dedicated to empowering low-income tenants through community organizing, education and advocacy to fight for safe, decent and affordable housing in Los Angeles. Inquilinos Unidos’ vision is a tenant-led movement that creates stable, strong, safe, green and healthy communities and neighborhoods that are desirable, vibrant places to live, and ensure economic prosperity and equitable political representation for all residents.
