Rise Up Foundation Inc Mission RISE Up aims to provide families with an inclusive environment to meet the needs of traditional and nontraditional learners through high-quality early childhood education and therapy. About RISE Up is a program that exists within the Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) at First United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL. RISE Up provides early childhood education and therapy in one location for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Occupational therapy, Speech therapy and Pediatric Physical therapy are provided at no cost to special needs children. Through an inclusive classroom model, where therapists come into the classroom vs pulling children out, all learners on campus will benefit from therapy onsite. Donations cover the cost of additional staff, therapists, and any supplemental equipment to support the special needs learners within RISE Up. Inclusive education has positive short-term and long-term effects for ALL students. Research has shown that schools with inclusive classrooms (traditional and nontraditional learners together) see higher academic achievement, improved friendship and problem-solving skills, increased self-esteem, and greater respect for others. This can trickle down to their families as well, teaching parents and families to be more accepting of differences and those with special needs.
