Awards Info Connecticut’s K–12 Social Studies Standards In October 2023, Connecticut adopted its first-ever K–12 social studies standards, offering a statewide framework to guide effective instruction. Developed by educators with input from the public and support from state leadership, these standards reflect a shared commitment to high-quality, relevant social studies education. This important initiative was led by the Connecticut State Department of Education in partnership with the Connecticut Council for the Social Studies, with key support from Connecticut Humanities and the Connecticut Democracy Center. Educators, administrators, and community partners engaged in meaningful workshops, networked with peers, and explored innovative practices that strengthen social studies instruction across all grade levels.
