Donate now WHAT KEEPS US GOING?Pittsburgh Youth Leadership (PYL) is a non-profit organization established in 2006. Since its founding, PYL has been taking inner-city, low-income, at-risk youth on all expenses paid biking adventures across America’s most breathtaking roads. When told what they would be doing, the children laughed and deemed it impossible. In eight-teen years all participants have prevailed, and accomplished the seemingly impossible, showing them that they can do anything they set their mind to.PYL has biked over 250,000 miles in shine or snow through 49 different States and Provinces, and continues to inspire the children of Pittsburgh to defy the odds. The continued success of PYL alumni in their pursuit of higher education, employment & military service has been as inspiration for us to continue our work with such wonderful kids. THE FILMSPYL has been featured in two feature documentary films. We Ride (2024): 3 young cyclists endeavor to cycle across America in just 18 days. Conquering The Cycle (2016): An all-star group of PYL veterans accepted the challenge of cycling across America in 39 days. This enthusiastic & strong team of cyclists accomplished their goal riding from the Oregon Coast to the Jersey Shore. A documentary film of this adventure was produced by 4TWELVE PICTURES in 2016. *Screenings available by request for Conquering the Cycle.
