HAIDA ROOTS Haida Roots is committed to preserving the endangered Haida language (Alaskan dialect) for future generations. Our mission is to connect community members living in the Seattle area to the Haida language and culture through programs and opportunities created by Haida Roots. Along with keeping our ancient cultural ways alive, we support the creative evolution of new Haida music, art and books. Haida Roots also supports cultural groups that have the same mission of Preserving Endangered Indigenous Languages. At Haida Roots, we keep our ancestral ways alive through strong community ties, creating language learning opportunities, curriculum/literary development, song & dance, storytelling, art, traditional regalia making & more. As we do our work, we keep this goal in mind: 2nd language learners will speak our ancient tongue & will nurture the new generations of 1st language Haida speakers.
