TRASH THE RUNWAY Trash the Runway is a nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the lives of young people and developing better leaders of tomorrow by unlocking resilience, confidence and creativity using fashion and design as a catalyst for new ways of critical thinking. Through its mentorship program and design competition, Trash the Runway challenges middle and high school students to create high fashion garments, entirely out of found, non-recyclable or non-compostable materials culminating in a runway fashion show that rivals the beauty and creativity of professional couture shows. We also have an elementary school program for our up-and-coming designers who are not old enough to participate in the full workshop program. A unique experience, Trash the Runway inspires participants, volunteers and the broader community to think big, be empowered, and take an active role in driving change.
