ALDER TREE GIVING INC Scroll Education and opportunity for the next generation Call to Action What is the Alder Tree Giving mission?Alder trees are widely known for fostering fertile and healthy soil and, according to Irish folklore, the first man was made of alder. Alder Tree Giving seeks to foster healthy and active lifestyles in children through education and immersive, hands-on activities, and building local institutions that support these goals. The lessons learned through these activities and in these institutions will serve as fertile and healthy building blocks for their lives and help positively shape our society. “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6 Our programs teach healthy habitsOur children must learn what healthy food is and how to eat it to have healthy and productive lives. Our programs include educational events about food and healthy eating. For example, we are pioneering a farm-to-table program to show children where healthy food comes from, how to grow it, how to identify it, and then how to prepare and eat it. Our children must also learn the value and benefits of active lifestyles and lifelong healthy hobbies. To reach our audience, we promote these types of events involving music and the arts. For example, we have sponsored local school dance programs that involve teaching children about rhythm and how to dance.
