Shining Light Ministries January 28, 2026 This past Friday marked the one-year anniversary of my mom transitioning to heaven. So this weekend we gathered together as a family to remember her. She and my dad were married for nearly 69 years. To quote him: “She was a loving, praying, faithful woman of God who loved and nurtured her family and friends.” That she was! We all miss her so much, but we’re so thankful knowing she is home with our Heavenly Father and that we will see her again! What a promise we have in Christ. My sister Lori (right) came over from the Bend area, and along with my brother Darren (left) we spent time with Dad bringing comfort to all our hearts. I had THE BEST week with the men at the jail! We gave the lesson and we had some new guys who were hungry to hear more about how to have a relationship with God and learn how to pray. One man named Eduardo knew Jose, who has been with us for a year. Jose used to be an enforcer butaa has been so changed by the Word of God that Eduardo wanted the same thing. He and two others stayed after the rest of the men left for their break, asking Sarah and I to teach them how to pray. They stayed 45 minutes more! I am calling Jose “Pastor Jose” now because he is mentoring other men. I’m so proud of him! I’ve brought them some books from my mother’s library so they can study during the week. I’m hoping to get Jose enrolled in a correspondence school. His sentence is 70 months, so we’ll have him with us for quite a while.
