NEW ORLEANS TOWN GARDENERS INC Our Mission New Orleans Town Gardeners (NOTG) is a member of the Garden Club of America, and our mission is to stimulate knowledge and a love of gardening within the community and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment of Southeast Louisiana through educational programs, action, and grants in the fields of conservation, horticulture, floral design, and civic improvement.Civic beautification is at the heart of our mission. Our club has led projects such as major restoration and landscaping of historic Jackson Square, Popp’s Bandstand in City Park, the Latter Library on St. Charles Avenue, and the Hermann-Grima/Gallier Historic Houses. We have also created a Garden Library at Tulane University featuring over 1,000 rare and regional garden books and documents. In 1998, our club laid the foundation for the nationally acclaimed Edible Schoolyard New Orleans at the Samuel Green Charter School. The program now serves six inner-city public charter schools fostering education and experience in gardening, cooking, nutrition, and the environment. Read More
