HEALTH THROUGH WALLS INC HtW was created to assist prisons in resource-poor countries test, treat and control the spread of contagious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, TB, Cholera, COVID-19, STIs and other emerging infectious diseases; to implement programs to eradicate malnutrition in prisons; to establish a Health Promotion Peer Education program in prisons; to modernize systems to identify contagious diseases and to implement skills training programs so that prisoners can develop a skill to use once they are released from prison. Our focus is on key populations, affected family members/sex partners and the communities in which they live. At inception, HtW was the only NGO dedicated to providing care to the prison population.
