The institute was founded in 2010. MISSION To advance public-benefit research and development in four focus areas – defense, aerospace and space; energy independence and resilience; supply chain and advanced manufacturing; and frontier and strategic technologies – through partnerships with industry, academia, and government, guided by transparent processes and high ethical standards, to enhance national security, energy security, economic competitiveness, and societal well-being.
