Ignatian Lay Volunteer Corporation Ignatian Lay Volunteer Corporation (d/b/a Ignatian Volunteer Corps, d/b/a IVC) (the Organization) is a religious nonprofit Maryland corporation whose purpose is to provide men and women age 50 and over the opportunity to serve the needs of people who are poor, to work for a more just society, and to grow deeper in Christian faith by reflecting and praying in the Ignatian tradition. The Organization was founded by Jesuits (Society of Jesus) of the Maryland Province in response to General Congregation 34 of the Society of Jesus. The Organization is independent and lay led, and firmly committed to maintaining its Ignatian character and its strong ties to the Society of Jesus.
