In 2023 HHSMI provided services to more than 80 horses, and our average herd size was between 55 and 64 horses throughout the course of the year. We made 24 adoptive or longer term foster placements Please consider a donation to our vet fund, hay fund or area of greatest need. Donate Our Mission Hoof & Heart of Southern Michigan is dedicated to helping discarded, unwanted horses (such as those at auctions, kill pens, and owner surrenders) find loving homes with families who are just the right match for them. Adoptions are one of the primary goals of our rescue and they are particularly special as they free up spaces for new residents to be saved from neglect or slaughter.
