Voice for Asian Elephants Society Current Projects: 1. 637 elephant deaths were averted on West Bengal train tracks; a grand achievement that has inspired us to expand this technology inside the Buxa Tiger Reserve where three elephants including a newborn calf were killed by a reckless speeding train. 2. VFAES in collaboration with Nature Mates purchased a 4-acre plot of plantation land inside the forests of South Nilambur for rewilding, so 340+ elephants can roam safely and freely between forest patches. This is just the beginning, as discussions are already underway to purchase more land for rewilding Kerala forests. 3. VFAES has planted 20,000 elephant friendly saplings and created seven large waterholes across the Pallahara and Balasore regions of Odisha for 210+ elephants in these core habitats.
