WASHINGTON EXPLORER SEARCH AND RESCUE Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue (PCESAR) is a volunteer-based ground search and rescue team, formed in 1966 as the second ESAR unit in Washington State. PCESAR serves Pierce Countyespecially wilderness and urban areasunder the leadership of the Pierce County Sheriffs Department Primary Mission: Assist local law enforcement in locating and rescuing lost, injured, or missing persons in wilderness and urban environments, and responding to natural disasters, evacuations, and evidence recovery operations Emergency Response: Operates around the clock24/7with trained volunteers (ages 14 and up) and works under Incident Command structures during SAR missions
