MINNESOTA CABLE COMMUNICATIONS Minnesota Cable Communications Association The Minnesota Cable Communications Association (MCCA) is a trade association of franchised cable television companies in Minnesota. All major companies are represented in its membership. The group is governed by a board of directors made up of member company leaders. Local communities regulate cable television and the state has a chapter of law governing the franchise process. At the federal level cable is regulated by the FCC.Cable television companies in Minnesota serve over 1.4 million homes in almost every corner of the state – rural, suburban and urban. There are more then 20,000 miles of cable in Minnesota (enough to go from Minneapolis to Rome and back twice) providing reliable broadband (Internet), video and voice services. MCCA members power over 3,000 wifi hotspots. Cable technology has grown tremendously over the last decade and broadband speeds double annually.Minnesota cable companies employ over 4,000 Minnesotans with indirect jobs accounting for an additional 38,000.
