MACKINAC HORSEMEN'S ASSOCIATION 2025 5-DAY YOUTH PONY CAMPS Mackinac Community Equestrian Center Our horse camp offers youth a varied educational experience and lots of fun memories to be made with friends new and old. We provide age-appropriate activities for each camper. Each camper will participate in groups as well as individually to build confidence, skills, and leadership. Safety is of paramount importance to us, therefore we require proper footwear, clothing and helmets are required. Our camp is staffed with knowledgeable horse people and our lesson horses are well schooled. We ask that all campers have long pants for riding, and pack a lunch. Helmets and boots will be available if needed. Snacks and drinks will be provided. 2025 Dates (registration to open starting May 7th) Pony Camp I June 16th - 20th Camp Horse Show June 20th Suitable for all age riders that are learning to Walk, Trot and/or Canter Pony Camp II July 14th - 18th Camp Horse Show July 18th Suitable for all age and skill levels. Riders will be grouped together by skill set. Beginner to Avanced riders welcome! Pony Camp III - August 11-15th Camp Horse Show Friday August 15th Our last camp of the season! Join us for one last camp and a send-off for our amazing Summer Interns! Suitable for all age and skill levels. Riders will be grouped together by skill set. Beginner to Avanced riders welcome! Camp activities are tailored to camp participants. Below are a just few examples of topics for pony camp I: Safe horse handling on the ground. Fundamentals of horseback riding and proper position in the saddle Beginner Riding Lessons Parts of names of English and Western saddles, bridles, and bits Safety around horses Equine health and nutrition Workbooks and games Horse games, relay races, and more! Camp activities are tailored to camp participants. Below are a just few examples of topics for pony camp II: All topics from Camp I Flat and jump lessons daily (as skill levels allows) Two lessons a day Learn how to build jump courses Learn about Western Riding fundamentals Trail ride Western Showmanship Before and after ride standards and horse safety Equipment safety standards Equine Nutrition & daily care $450.00 Total Limited to 10 campers for our Beginner Camp and 8 campers for the advanced camp.
