(AANS) exists for and is dedicated to the following purposes and principals: 1) To promote the interest of patients and the neurosurgical profession. 2) To provide a communication interface with other groups and represent neurosurgical opinion to preserve and achieve the principles and purposes of the AANS. 3) To establish standards of quality care for neurosurgical services. 4) To establish policy positions on major issues that affect all members of AANS. 5) To represent the interests of neurological surgeons before federal, state, and local government bodies.
