PLEASANT RIVER WILDLIFE FOUNDATION Upper Pleasant River Pleasant River Wildlife Foundation Founded as a 501(c)(3) Maine Land Trust charitable organization in 1998, PRWF works to protect wildlife habitat on the Downeast Coast. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and is committed to preserving traditional public access. Since its founding 20 years ago, PRWF has purchased and protected: 1,367 acres of wetlands 2,523 acres of uplands 20.50 miles of salt water shorefront 5.04 miles of streams Our Mission Pleasant River Wildlife Foundation’s mission is to protect scarce, high value wildlife habitat in coastal Washington County, Maine. Our highest priorities are: to protect wetlands and adjacent wildlife habitats that are particularly critical for waterfowl, shorebirds and woodcock to protect marshes and shorelines that can adapt to rising sea levels to protect Maine’s Rockweed, a vital species in the Gulf of Maine ecosystem to work in close coordination with other partners to achieve significant conservation on a regional scale to preserve traditional pedestrian public access to all our properties and waterfront, including access for fishing, hunting and trapping
