NEW YORK STATE COUNCIL OF The focus at NYSCPG is fourfold:1. Promote the competent practice of professional geology by adhering to sound ethical, scientific, and geologic principles. This isaccomplished by the hosting of educational events (conferences and webinars) for professional geologist and sister professions. This providesprofessionals with continuing education opportunities required by the New York State Education Department for maintaining professionallicensure.2. Monitor and offer professional reviews and opinions regarding pending legislation and research New York State and local laws andregulations as they pertain to or may affect the practice of geology in New York State. This is accomplished by the employment of a lobbyist inconjunction with our Legislative Committee reviewing bills submitted to the NYS Legislature and local governments.3.
